Agents of S.H.A.Q.
At one time Misha was just like any other black bear from the wildernes near the city of Sharn. Her life would have just continued to follow its natural instincts if not for the magic of companion call that she felt one day coming from the den of humans. Finding this new call unresistable, the powerful hunter followed it to its source. What she found was Berrian deep in a trance concentrating on sending his will into the earth to be eble to communicate with nature. Arriving to face this human, Misha let out an inquisitive growl which caused Berrian to open his eyes. Looking into his eyes, Misha knew that this was not just any human. He showed no fear in that gaze, but a sort of deep understanding of what it meant to live and hunt in the wild. Berrian slowly approached the bear and proceeded to lay his hands on either side of her proud head. As those hands ambraced her, Misha felt a rush of some power and was startled when she could start to actually “hear” and understand the thoughts if this hunter. With this sensation came a newfound energy and understanding of the world around her. She also felt and energy coursing over her hide in an unknown pattern. This was slightly uncomfortable and Misha stepped away from Berrian and shook herself to try and alleviate the discomfort. It did not last long and as the sensation ceased, Misha received a mental image of herself seemingly from Berrian’s point of view. What she saw was a healthy black bear with a new pattern of red swirls over her coat. Berrian’s thoughts then drifted into her mind explaining that the swirls were part of the magic that would allow him to communicate with her and that they were a sign of the companion pact that he wished to make with her if sue would have it. He explained that the choice was entirely hers and that if she decided not to complete the bond that no lasting effect would occur from this initial meeting. He also explained that the bond would grant her an extended life and improved knowledge and power over a normal bear but that it would at times place her in dangerous situations as they traveled together in the world of man.
She did not have to think long before making her decision. From the brief contact, Misha could tell that Berrian was a kindred spirit of the wild and that he too felt more at home out in the open than in one of the human cities. She could also feel the start of th deep bond and friendship that was forming and that she knew she would defend this man as if he were her own cub for the rest of her life. As she made up her mind she bounded forward and proceeded to tckle her new friend and playfully lick his face enthusiastically. Berrian chuckled at this as much as he could with a mountain of bear on top of him and sent his joy and happiness through his bond with his new companion.
